Terms

Hourly minimums

Hourly minimums are imposed to protect interpreters’ financial interest and ensure quality interpreters are available in the future. Freelance interpreters post their hourly minimums on their profile.

Read and understand the terms before hiring. The standard minimum throughout much of the U.S. for courts or medical interpretation is 2 hours.

However, the minimum ultimately depends on your setting. For example, conference interpreters may choose to bill by half-day or full-day.

In the event of a cancelation, hourly minimums will be applied in most cases. Chat with your interpreter if you have questions.

Cancelation Policies

In most cases, if you must cancel less than 24 hours from the start time of your assignment you will be responsible to pay the interpreter’s hourly minimum.

Again, the required minimum in the event of a cancelation depends on your setting. For trials or conferences, interpreters reserve the entire day to provide services.

Speak to your interpreter about their cancelation policy and specific details. GoSignify encourages and supports reasonable cancelation policies.
